A set of Japanese Tsuge (boxwood) combs from the mid Showa period (1926-1989). The combs are made from Tsuge wood and have been known as the best kind of combs for their gentleness and are used by women and men. They were especially treasured by women in the old time when they used oil to style their long hair. Tsubaki camellia oil was used to clean between uses and this gave a deeper tone.
