This is an old Thai bronze Buddha that we acquired along with a large grouping of Asian antiques that was brought back from southeast Asia by a former pilot that flew for Air America during 1960's in the Vietnam War. The Buddha is seated in the earth-touching mudra, and is from the U-Thong school. The gilt patina has worn to a dull finish, with the exception of brighter highlights in some of the crevices and hair curls. It has some casting flaws, small holes and pits, in addition to some early ... Click for details

This pair is lavished with great detail as evidenced by the toothy grin and fur of the lion and the elephant’s decorative saddle blanket. The removable top halve... Click for details

The low, rich sound of this Burmese temple gong is pleasant and gentle, yet impossible to ignore. We found the hand hammered bronze gong while traveling in Burma many years ago. The stand, constructed of aged, reclaimed elm wood, was custom made in China using traditional joinery methods. Thick, heavy bronze, blackened in the Burmese style, is responsible for the haunting sound of the gong. The striker, also made in Burma, has a hand sewn fabric cover. Dimensions of gong only: diameter 21" (53 c... Click for details

While traveling in Burma (Myanmar) many years ago, we were enchanted by the particularly sonorous sounds of Burmese bronze gongs. Our resulting small shipment of various sizes of these gongs remained in storage until we had stands made for them in China. The stands are constructed with traditional Chinese tenon joinery of aged, reclaimed elm wood. The bright red fabric-covered striker, hand sewn in Burma, has the proper degree of softness to produce a full sound from this relatively small gong, ... Click for details
