Very fine ikat and embroidered patterned men’s sarong from Timor Island. The weaving is in three panels on this piece and is exceptionally fine and supple. In excellent condition with a few minor frays on the selvedge only. Although by no means an antique, this is a genuine “cultural” item and not made for the “tourist market”- a realistic dating would be between 30 and 50 years old. The embroidery (which is finished on both sides) and woven patterns on the two side borders panels ar... Click for details

Vintage Laotian silk shawl textile. This item is 50 to 80 years old and said to be woven by the same village near Luang Prabang that were weavers for the former Lao royal family. Exceptionally fine weaving and difficult to source old Lao silk textile, I must have looked at over 200 textiles, during a recent trip to Laos, and these are only two that appeared to be genuinely old and not outrageously priced. The cover photo does not do this item justice so please note the enlargements to vi... Click for details
