Rich impact art deco plate from the pottery master Kanou Mitsuo. He was born and lived in Kyoto c.1903-1970. He was known for his tortoiseshell glazes. In 1949 he won first prize at the Nitten, Japan's prestigious Fine Arts Exhibition. Later he was asked to be the top judge in the event. The plate comes in the original signed kiri wood box and on the lid it reads, 'Bekkou Yu' tortoiseshell glaze, and 'Hirabachi' flat plate...

Japanese 20th century bronze vase by Living National Treasure bronze artist TAKAMURA TOYOCHIKA (1890-1972). TOYOCHIKA was the son of he famous sculptor TAKAMURA KOUN. In 1908 he became the student of famous bronze artist TSUDA SHINOBU and in 1915 he graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He received many awards at TEITEN and other major exhibitions. He was recognized as Living National Treasure in 1964 for his specialty in metal casting using the lost wax method...

The size of Charger: 12 3/8" Dia x 1 3/4" High. Very Fine Japanese Aote Kutani Charger. Aote is green in Kutani ware terminology which was Miyamoto kiln originated. The charger is made with fine crackle glazing earthenware body finish as many Kutani piece in modern age. It has wonderful workmenship and design of Oshidori(mandarin duck) with Plum tree and bamboo. It has fine handpainted decoration of enamels. The plate was decorated with Kutani artist name Kitamoto Gakuyo...

An unusual protector coated with reddish mineral pigment (rato mato). The wild design takes advantage of the natural shape of a piece of trees, two broken branches figure the arms, the face is very simple and minimal Very strong wood and good condition, fossilized aspect in some areas , obvious signs of age possibly from early 20Th Height 90 cm , face 27 cm , the figures is based on a metal stand (not shown on the pictures)

Japanese 20th Century woodblock print portrait of a nun by IKEDA SHU. The print is numbered 4 of 100 and dated 1969. Fine color and impression. There are slight creases in the lower right and left corners. The paper measures 15 1/4" wide by 23" tall. The actual print measures 13" by 20 3/4" tall.

The Cube, or Cubist, pattern was made by Jeannette Glass Company from 1929 to 1933. It's often confused with Fostoria's American pattern and for good reason: both were designed by the same man. Hex Optic is one of the earlier depression patterns. It was made by Jeannette Glass from 1928 to 1932 and used extensively in their kitchenware lines. Offered here is the ice bucket in green in excellent condition. This version has the pour spout so that a reamer can be inserted and the bucket serves double duty. it comes with the original metal handle & serving tongs. Iris & Herringbone was made by Jeannette Glass Company from 1928 to 1932. Offered here is the 8 inch luncheon plate in excellent condition. These plates are often found with a satin finish and color wash on the reverse - this on is pastel blue. For more in this pattern, see my other listings.

Beautiful Kutani porcelain vase; hand painted with a scene of Chinese men in the rocky mountains in underglaze blue. The glaze has slightly blueish tint. Signed Kutani. The dimensions of the vase is 9 3/4 inches in height, 5 3/8 pounds in wood box (appears solid). The dimensions of box: 9" x 9" x 11 1/2". Circa, mid 1900s.

This Miao silver drinking horn would have used for special occasions i.e. prospective in-laws visiting etc. The horn is small 6.5 inches from tip to far rim. The reposse design of dragon and fish is mirrored on each side of the horn.

Lovely covered dresser box attributed to Artisti Barovier, circa 1920s. In green with applied pink "pasta glass" details and a beautifully crafted purple and green bunch of grapes on the lid. The entire piece is lightly iridescent, making it glow and reflect in the light. This thin and light piece has a snap pontil, and is a rare piece of early Murano glass. Measures approximately 5" in diameter and 3.5" tall. Excellent condition.

A set of five Japanese Fukagawa porcelain bowls and covers, each decorated in gold, iron red and underglaze blue, with a delicate design of maple branches. Marked on the bottom with a Mt. Fuji (and river) logo of the Fukagawa Seiji Porcelain Company, circa 1920-1940.
