A small and intimate literati landscape by Uragami Gyokudo (1745-1820), perhaps Japan's most revered Edo period landscape artist. Painted on paper with ink the work is in very good condition although the seal is faint. It has been very recently and tastefully re-mounted. The image measures 5.5'' by 8.25'' (14 by 21 cm). The scroll measures 46'' by 11'' (117 by 28 cm).

Contrasting linear and boneless brushwork, utilizing brilliant colors and adhering to a proper relationship between fore and background it is a classical work by the master. 19th century agate netsuke simply carved in a shape of a peach. Beautiful stone with delicate white turning peach color, elegant design, wonderful patina, old smoothed chip on the back of the tip of the fruit. Great piece for a collection of netsuke materials. Height 1 15/16 inches.
