A large Colima saucer-shape olla from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD. It is 11” in diameter, 6” high and is decorated with four panels of 24 raised dots. The deep red slip is highly burnished and shows extensive mineral deposits. A professionally restored stress crack is barely visible, else in excellent condition. An elegant form.

A rare Salinar Portrait vessel from Peru, ca. 200 BC – 100 AD. This beautifully detailed vessel is 7-1/2” high and depicts an individual adorned with appliqué ear ornaments. His facial features are molded in high relief and the face is extensively incised with a variety of geometric and zoomorphic designs, which, along with the spout, clearly show the Chavinoid roots emulated by early Salinar artisans. Intact, good mineral deposits.

A spectacular Jalisco zoomorphic vessel from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 350 AD. It is 7-1/2" high, 7-3/4" long and the bowl is 8" in diameter and is most likely intended to depict an armadillo carrying a large bowl on its back. Its nicely detailed head has a playfully expressive face, with protruding tongue. These vessels were important objects in the burial rituals of the elite. They were placed at the entrances of tombs and filled with burning incense, just prior to the tomb being sealed...

A rare Moche IV deity effigy from Peru, ca. 450 – 550 AD. This fine sculpture is 9-1/2” high and depicts Ai Apaec with the face of an owl. He is portrayed seated with hands resting on the knees and is wearing a layered mantle. In excellent condition, with good kaolin slip and mineral deposits.
