A very nice Chinese armchair just in from a southern estate collection of wonderful Chinese antiques and decorative art. Beautiful and simplistic with gently curving back and arms. Approximately 35" tall. Center support on underside appears to have been replaced.
n extremely rare matching set of a drum table and five matching stools made of Jichi wood or "Chicken Wing Wood" with burlwood tops with a bamboo design. The table top is made from one piece of burlwood.
Bamboo carved furniture from very expensive wood is very rare as bamboo is a very inexpensive wood and to carve that bamboo design in the expensive wood is a sign of reverse snobbery reserved for the very rich at that time...

The table is decorated with an interesting frieze like border with a rectalinear meandering border around a central piece of huang huali wood. It measures 28.5" by 37" by 34.5" tall.
Antique Chinese two door cabinet from the 18th or 19th century. Set with paired doors opening at a removable stile to reveal a removable shelf over a suspended shelf with a pair of drawers. It is made of jumu wood. It has brass fittings with double fish handles as pulls. It measures 36" wide 19" deep 67" tall.

It’s compact proportions, the cap extending to three sides and the order of panels and stretchers put this cabinet firmly in the Ming tradition. Halfhigh two-door cabinet, Shanxi province. Period: late Ming, ca. 1600. Remarkably solid and well made. Original thick bright-red lacquer on the front that has changed colour over time and under the influence of smoke to wine-red. The sides are finished in a thick dark lacquer that has partially flaked off. What remains of it is strong. One back leg has been repaired. The shelf-board is original; the bottom-board has been replaced. The hardware on the lock is original but incomplete...
