gentle animal of Japanese folklore - in underglaze blue at the center of the plate. The plate is 6 1/4" diameter and is 1 1/4" deep.

A pair of Japanese Kutani porcelain Stemmed Saki cups, decorated with Chinese children fishing in a natural setting beside rocks on a river bank on a white reserve ground, the cups decorated with red glaze and gilding. Inside cups decorated with caligraphy. The base signed Kutani. Condition, small chip to one at lip. Meiji period.
Japanese Kutani Saki Bottle decorated in traditional red Kutani color pallet and gilding, on a white porelain ground with flowers, figure, and diaper bands. Cut-away foot with Kutani mark in red within square. Condition, excellent. Late Meji period.
A fine early pair of Japanese folk art (Mingei) wooden dishes such as would be used in the tea
ceremony. Both are made from cross sections of very old trees as evidenced by the scores of tiny
growth tree rings. Deeply etched landscape scenes and calligraphy highlighted with sumi ink. The
largest is 3 1/2" in diameter at the widest and the smaller one is the same width at widest but 1/2"
inches narrower in the other direction. Believed to be mid-Meiji or earlier from the fine patina.
Wonderfully rustic copper tea kettle totally handmade with superb repousse hammered design. It looks rustic until you examine the piece closely and see the extremely fine hammering that was require to shape the pot and the design. The interior appears to be lined with tin or some other white metal. Double bale handles that swing away. Very good condition with fine old patina. Four character signature on base...
A wonderful late Edo Period Seto ware Mingei dish in the classic "Horse's Eye" pattern - shown in all the books on Japanese pottery, ca. 1800. This beauty measures 10 1/4" in diameter and is 2 1/4" deep. As is usually the case, there is a nick on the rim - see photo - but that does not detract from the simple beauty of the design. Multiple spur marks on the inside of the bowl indicate the dish was glazed and then placed in the kiln upside down to fire it...
A charming little ceramic figure of the most popular of the Japanese Seven household gods - Daikoku. Standing on his rice bag and holding his hammer of prosperity, this fine early Japanese pottery figure measures 4" tallx 1 3/4" deep x 1 3/4" wide. Good condition - normal surface wear and one tiny chip on the base. Circa 1900.
Imari Double Gourd sake pourer - ribbed - decorated in classic simplicity with small flowers at
both ends of the gourd. Piece is 5" tall, top diameter is 3/4", top section is 1 3/4" diameter,
