A very fine blue & white dish, decorated in the center with Peony flowers and around the cavetto with "Ruyi" scroll, diaper pattern to rim. Underside with a pair of foliated dragon. Dating Ming dynasty late Thianshun to early Chenghua. Condition is excellent with no any cracks or chips, well balance, flawlessly and free from restoration as well. Diameter: 15.6 cm.

In celebration of a Chinese garden, this early 20th century jar is enameled with two peonies amid green leaves and a red/orange bird perched on a flowering branch that continues on to the lid. A nature poem on the opposite side is enameled in four vertical black lines of calligraphy. The jar is in fair condition, with several hairline cracks that are shown clearly in the photo enlargements. Dimensions: height 13 1/2" (34 cm), diameter 10" (26 cm).

This is yet another fantastic piece by Suzuki Goro, who never ceases to create works that enchant the senses and excite the mind. Ei-oribe designates oribe pottery with drawings (ei). Although it is designed as a dobin (tea pot), it would be difficult to use it as such, the spout being too high over the mouth, and it would be more appropriate to use it as a vase. But knowing Suzuki Goro, this irony is not surprising, as he creates works whose purpose is to serve and amuse, too...
