This marvelous memory painting by folk/outsider artist Helen LaFrance is entitled "Church Picnic." The signed painting is oil on board and the dimensions are 15 x 24 inches. It comes in a contemporary wood frame. Helen LaFrance is a self-taught black artist who was born in 1919 Western Kentucky. It is in excellent condition, signed clearly lower right in the beautiful original frame. the panel is 20.5cm h by 26.8cm w and framed dimensions are 38cm by 44cm. This oil on canvas by the Swiss-born painter, Jacques Laurent Agasse (1767-1849) is entitled The Toy Boat. Modern carved giltwood frame measures 40.75" by 50" by 3". Stretcher measures 32" by 41.25". Provenance: Frost and Reed, Bristol England (circa 1881); Roni Steinberg Sokoloff, New York NY (current). There is a very old repair to the canvas on verso in the lower right corner, and suspected in-painting on front over this area. We have not inspected the work under UV light...

16th C Italian Crucifixion. This magnificent painting is oil on canvas with old relining. It is apparently unsigned and most likely an altarpiece painting. The painting is 41.5 W by 41.5" H and is from a prominent Old Master collection. The painting is also a very rare example of a chronicle of the crusades. In the background one can see various cities of the crusades from left to right and on the right front side are the soldiers on their horses returning to their countries.
