The sitter in this portrait is wearing a pendant that appears, in my opinion and under high magnification, to be a miniature portrait. A miniature with a sitter wearing a miniature is quite rare, but please keep in mind that this is my interpretation. Whether or not the young woman is wearing a cased miniature, the painting is truly charming, and rendered with wonderful details...

Offered here is an early 20th century pastel painting of hounds with a fox in an English landscape. It is not signed but is a well rendered picture with good composition and colors that are are good and clear. The pastel is framed in a 19th century gilt wood frame. A very nicely executed English miniature watercolor portrait on ivory of a hazel eyed well-dressed gent wearing a black coat and a gray striped cravat. He is housed in what appears to be the original silk-lined read leather case.
Sight size is 3 1/4" by 2 1/2", while the case size is 3 3/4" by 3". The condition of the painting is excellent, with no problems. The case has normal, expected wear, including degradation of the silk.
