Ivory netsuke of a seated monkey wearing a short jacket and using all of its limbs to perform a triple “see, speak and hear no evil” all by itself. Excellent clever design, compact shape, beautifully incised fingernails. Pleasant patina, great light staining and etching of its fur. Signed YUKIMASA on the bottom - for a good discussion of this excellent artist (born in 1914) see CONTEMPORARY NETSUKE by Miriam Kinsey, p. 233. Height 1 7/16 inches.
Ivory netsuke of a man seated by a hot sand brazier with a kettle on it, putting a book aside and stretching his arms. Excellent detailed carving - his his wonderful face, tobacco pouch with pipe case by his side, a ladle for stirring the sand, brazier, book and kettle textures. Beautifully stained and finished. This item is very lovely and has his high techniques of metalwork.

Nihashi Yoshihira was born in Tenryu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
After graduating from elementary school he became a pupil of Unno Bisei.
In 1920 he entered the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1925.
The same year he was honored with a commission of silver crane ornaments for the Taisho Emperor's silver wedding anniversary...

Zentsuji Temple in the Rain, 1937.
Size: Oban. Approximately 15.25 x 10.25 inches.
Publisher: Watanabe Shozaburo. Bears the 6 mm seal, indicating a lifetime edition produced between 1946 and 1957.
Condition: The image is excellent. Blue ink dot in sky. The back has tape residue at and notes margins.

Beautiful lidded basket from Alaska, the fine grass weaving is enhanced with dyed seal gut imbrication in stacked triangles of red and black.

6 1/2" tall to the tip of the lid and 8" diameter.

With the original tag from Alaska Native Arts & Crafts identifying it as Kipnuk.

Due to the organic nature of the seal gut, there is some loss, but the basket is in fine stable condition.

Lovely small basketry bowl woven near Pit River in Northern California, attributed to the Yana Indians of northern California.

Twine weave of Maiden hair fern, pine root and bear grass, the small bowl measures 3" tall by 4 1/2" diameter.

Purchased new about 35 years ago, it is in perfect original condition, no breaks!

Two lovely Crow Mother Kachinas are separated by two ears of Hopi corn, finely woven on this large Hopi Pueblo Indian basketry bowl.

Standing 10 1/2" tall by 12" diameter, the weave is fine and tightly coiled.

Second Mesa style coiled weave from the 1970s, artist name has been lost.

Vegetal dyed colors: black from sunflower seeds, red from Mormon tea, yellow is shade dried yucca and white is sun bleached yucca.

Fine original condition, slight age fade.
