This brilliantly enamelled dish belongs to the same kind as the dish listed before ( # 396 ). However, this one is much more thinly potted, and its decoration, with a Phoenix in the center, is executed even more lavishly than on # 396. A very richly decorated Famille Noire jar.
( Famille Noire is actually Famille Verte with a black background.) There is not only a pair of peacocks, there are also cranes, ducks and flying birds and a lot of Lotus flowers and plants. Apocryphal underglaze blue Ming mark.
Probably 19th. century or older.
On the base of the jar is an old inventory Number which probably indicates that the piece comes from an old German collection.

The brilliantly enamelled peach decoration on this bowl is absolutely superb and the fact that this bowl bears a rare iron red Shengdetang mark is an additional enhancement concerning the importance of this Famille Rose decorated bowl.

A decorative Temmoku glazed bowl with a raised decoration of a Dragon and Lingzhi.
Most probably Japanese and probably from the seventeenth or eighteenth century. There is an incised signature to the piece which could give final clarity to the educated among us.
