19th century Chinese ivory seal of square section with crisply carved sunken characters on the base and a flowering prunus branch on the top. Superb elegant carving, wonderful yellowish patina, old age lines, in great condition. Excellent object for scholar’s table with wonderful feel of age. 19th century Chinese bangle bracelet of classical shape made out of transparent deep blue Peking glass. Fantastic color, bubbles in the material which are part of the charm of early glass. Beautiful patina and slight wear to the surface, overall in excellent condition. Inner diameter 2 15/16 inches (60 mm), outer diameter 3 5/8 inches (75 mm).
Unusual 19th century Peking glass faceted good size bead. Milky white body with green color overlay, very clearly carved facets revealing the color of the body. Very nice old piece in excellent condition, beautiful patina. Diameter 15/16 inches.
19th century Chinese bamboo brushpot carved in the round with a continuous scene of Chinese scholars and peasants by rice bales under pine trees with gnarled branches, all in a setting of mountains, stream and clouds. Seven human figures, each in a distinct attitude, excellent quality carving - see the faces, robes, rocks, clusters of pine needles and textures of tree trunks. Excellent patina, compressed dust in crevices. Superb piece in scholarly taste. Height 5 3/8 inches, width 3 5/8.
Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese soapstone brushrest carved in a shape of a 5-peaked mountain rising from waves, and pine trees growing on it. Excellent rendition of raw energy of the stone, both dynamic and frozen in dramatic shape. Beautifully carved trees, very beautiful stone of cream color with pink areas and white spots, pleasant finish and great patina. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s table.
