Rather unusual 19th century (late Qing Dynasty) Chinese ceramic Buddhist scepter. Ruyi scepter is a traditional symbol of scholarship in Chinese culture, as well as of transmission of knowledge in Buddhist monastery environment. Simple elegant shape, the head of the scepter is modeled as Fungus of Immortality, and the stem as wood with numerous bumps and dents.
