19th century small ivory netsuke of a dancing man with one foot raised and a fan in one hand. His shaved head and long pigtail indicates that he is Manchu rather than Han Chinese. Beautiful delicate carving, excellent portrait quality face, great depiction of swirling clouds on his coat, buttons are inlaid with green staghorn, wonderful mellow patina. Rather unusual 19th century Chinese pewter wine pot of 6-lobed section with brass and copper inlays of various plants, leaves and butterflies on the sides and the top. Very good quality work with wealth of details (does not photograph well). Rims of the body and cover are inlaid with brass, large convenient handle. Early 19th century wooden netsuke of a group of dried food items including an eel, a persimmon and 3 chestnuts. Superbly clever and elegant netsuke, excellent quality carving, extremely beautiful wood with tiny streaks in its grain adding depth to the carving. The subject of the netsuke is sannin jogo - the three drunkards showing the varying effects of sake: laughter, weeping and anger.
