Rather unusual late Meiji (1890s-1910s) small Japanese ivory carving / okimono carved as a half-shell containing high relief landscape with several buildings and different trees. Excellent quality work with superb depiction of various tree textures, deep undercutting, very pleasant light staining, great patina.
