Chinese scholar’s wooden box carved on the outside in medium relief with a continuous design of of a gnarled pine tree. Beautiful object for scholar’s table, can be used for storing small scholar’s objects such as inksticks or seals. Excellent quality carving - see the texture of the bark on the trunk and delicately carved clusters of needles. I believe the material is called wang yang wood. Wonderful staining, great patina. Width 4 5/8 inches at the widest, height 2 inches.

20th century ivory netsuke of mother monkey breast-feeding a a baby monkey while the elder sibling munches on a peach. Very rare subject, elegant carving perfectly capturing the mood of the scene. Superb realistic faces, excellent hairwork, finely carved fingers with fingernails, eyes inlaid with light horn, painted pupils. 1930s Japanese silver box with carved top depicting temple buildings among trees, and Mount Fuji in the background. Excellent quality carving (see the wonderful rhythm of the cuts delineating leaves and needles, rosewood body. Signed YOSHIYUKI TO (carved by Yoshiyuki) in the left right corner, marked STERLING 950 on the rim on the bottom, in excellent condition, very clean, hinges work perfectly. Size 3 1/2x2 1/2x1 3/8 inches.

Japanese bronze scroll weight (also can be used as brushrest) in a shape of a leaping tiger. Wonderful dynamic depiction capturing the essence of the creature, beautiful copper colored patina. Comes with original box and wrapping cloth. Marked by the artist TORA (tiger) on top of the cover, signed and sealed EIJU on the inside of the cover. Somewhat unusual 1920s (early Showa period) Japanese cloisonne cup and saucer decorated on the outside with densely placed flowers of different varieties, all on a deep blue ground. The bottom of the saucer is decorated with a scrolling vine. Excellent quality work, great design, superb enamel colors. Gold washed wires and rims, overall in excellent condition. Both the cup and the saucer are marked on the bottom with Ando mark. Cup is 1 3/4 inches tall, saucer is 4 3/16 inches in diameter.
