| Early 19th century (can be as early as 18th) Japanese scroll depicting a roundel with Rokkasen - Six Famous Poets of Japan - having a quiet conversation. Ink and slight colors on paper, excellent detailing, beautiful brushwork - see their faces and graceful flow of the robes. Signed YOKOKU NO FUDE (painted with brush by Yokoku) followed by seal. Very pleasant feel of age. Remounted recently in brocade and paper mounts, lacquered wood scroll ends, overall in very good condition. Scroll size 50x24.5 inches, painting size 18x23.5 inches. | ||
