| 19th century boxwood netsuke of a crouched shishi (Buddhist lion) holding a brocade ball between its paws. The brocade ball contains a loose ball inside, the eyes are inlaid with black horn. Very nice carving with wonderful depiction of curly mane and tail, pleasant patina and wear. Signed MASAMITSU on the bottom - the artist is listed on p. 714 of NETSUKE & INRO ARTISTS AND HOW TO READ THEIR SIGNATURES by George Lazarnick. Height 1 1/8 inches. | ||
