A set of three Late Edo / Early Meiji period large calligraphy brushes. Constructed of hardwood with assorted animal hair bristles providing a hard, medium and soft end. The pair with the thin handles are most likely Edo period and exhibit a rich dark patina from the calligrapher's hand. The brushes are in good condition and still usable. Length: 12" 11" and 10".
