| An impressive rare Japanese boy Ichimatsu ningyo or doll that sits dating to the late Taisho era (1912-1926). Boy ichimatsu dolls are rare but ones that bend at the waist and sit are even more difficult to find. This is a very high quality doll made by a master craftsman whose stamp is featured on a sheet of paper covering the abdomen (under his clothing). His expression is radiant with a superb white gofun face ( the application of many layers of crushed oyster shell) with glass eyes. His hair is fine silk and fashioned in a period hairstyle. His haori (over-garment is hand embroidered with gold stitching. Both hakama and haori still contain basting stitches which shows the doll has been well kept. The overall the quality of workmanship is extremely high and this is a doll worthy of the best collections.Dimensions: 15"(standing) x 10" x 5". Overall condition is very good for age. An important addition to any collection of Japanese dolls. | ||
