Brad Anderson (American, b. 1924) Executive Decision Ink and wash on paper, signed, and with label on reverse establishing copyright by The Saturday Evening Post and a "received" stamp dated 1954 from the office of [Senator] James C. Auchincloss (R-NJ, 1943-1965). Provenance: from the Collection of James C. Auchincloss (R-NJ, 1943-1965) Anderson studied advertising and illustration at Syracuse University. A freelance cartoonist, his early work appeared in magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and Colliers. In 1954, he created Marmaduke. The strip, chronicling the antics of a lovable, mischievous Great Dane, is now syndicated in more than 600 newspapers worldwide (Information courtesy of SU alumni magazine.)
