Hugh Kepets (American, b. 1946) Blue Pitcher Serigraph on paper, signed, titled, numbered: “52/100” and dated: “(19)82”. Hugh Kepets was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1946 and received Fine Arts degrees from Carnegie-Mellon University and Ohio University. He now lives and works in New York City. Kepets is an artist intrigued by fragmented views of reality. Concentrating on subjects like architecture and still life, he makes reality seem magical in his precise and patterned close-ups and sharply cropped compositions. Complicated and engaging, his works transform objects into highly evocative abstractions. For the past twelve years he has been represented in national and international juried and invitational shows as well as four one-man shows in New York and others in Dallas, Pittsburgh, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago and Philadelphia. His work is held in the permanent collections of: Art Institute of Chicago, Cleveland Museum of Art, Harvard University Art Museums, Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven.
