Toned overall as a result of a cardboard backer in the frame, which also caused a 'white spot' effect in the right and left margins. Black and white with red pencil underlines of five names; one cartouche names Aiken the "Sports Center" of the South. The map lists the 95 Winter Cottage owners. The sheet measures 19 7/8" x 26 1/4."
Letter to Sir James concerning arranging a visitation to Wilkie's brother. Signed 'David Wilkie' and dated 'January 6th 1840.' Wilkie was a famous Scottish painter of portraits and landscapes. This letter was written just 1 1/2 years before Wilkie's death at sea. The letter measures 7 1/4" tall x 4 1/2" wide.
This typed letter on ruled stationary was sent from Leavenworth Prison in 1939, and contains a great deal of information on some of his birds. "Special Purpose, May 9, 1939" is stamped in red at the top of the first page, and the pen signature reads "Robert Stroud #17431." Sheets measure 10 1/4" x 8."
Engraving has a printed signature and measures 11 3/8" x 8;" engraved by William E. Marshall, Copyright 1879 by Houghton Osgood & Co. The accompanying, separate clipped signature measures 2" x 3 1/4," and was hand-signed in brown fountain pen.

Original Hand-Colored Map of Asia, including part of Africa, 1700. Beautiful coloring; paper is lightly toned with a stain in the upper left corner (Slightly entering cartouche) and stains in the lower margin which do not affect the image. Sheet measures 11 1/8" x 16 1/4;" matting is 15 3/4" x 19 1/2."
Hand-Colored Map of Spain, printed in Paris in the 1680's. Nicely colored with light toning. The map measures 4 3/4" x 5 3/4;" the matting is 14" x 11."
