Original Woodblock in Four Colors, signed and titled on the verso. There is a 3 1/2" tear in the top margin which does not enter into the image, and there is a small stain in the upper corner, which also does not affect the image. The full sheet measures 5 5/8" x 8 1/8;" the image itself is 3" x 5."
Frank Benson: "Sun and Shadow" and Colin Campbell Cooper: "A Salem Residence." Pair of photogravure prints from paintings, each is signed on stacked under-sheets from Haeseler Studios, Philadelphia with its label on the reverse. Both are in very good condition. The Benson art measures 8 5/8" x 7 1/8;" matting is 14" x 12;" Cooper is 7 1/4" x 9" and 14 3/4" x 12." Sold as a pair.
Original Pencil-Signed Etching, 1903. Lightly toned and laid on board with mat glue residue in the upper and lower margins, not affecting image area. There are tiny glass scratches in a couple of spots, but are hard to detect. Plate mark is 11" x 8 3/4"; matting is 18" x 15 1/4."
"Pramie Zum Sechsten Bande der New Yorker Criminal-Leitung" Engraving. Soiled and toned overall with a 2" tear running vertically from the bottom edge through the 'L' in 'Columbus' and 1/4" into the image. There is also a 5/8" tear in the upper center margin which goes to the edge of the image and another 1" tear enters 1/4" at the top of the image. Engraving after painting by B. Rogers of Philadelphia. Published October 6, 1826 by W. H. Morgan of Philadelphia. A fine scarce early engraving with full margins remaining, with some chipping and tearing in the margins which extend to within 1/2" of the plate mark. The flaws have been stabilized with archival filmoplast repairs. The engraving is toned overall with some minor foxing and soiling. Full sheet measures 27 1/4" x 20 1/4;" plate mark is 23 5/8" x 15 1/2."
Original Engraving from a daguerrotype taken at Baton Rouge in July, 1848 by Pettee and Cathan. Some soiling and foxing with a 1/4" abrasion at the platemark in the lower right, probably from the plate impression. Full sheet measures 24" x 18 3/4;" plate mark is 18 1/4" x 13."
Original Stone Lithograph by the Niagara Lithograph Company of Buffalo, NY, Published by 'Frank Leslie's Popular Monthly.' Toned overall, primarily in the margins. There is a stain in the lower right 1" x 2 1/4" along the bottom edge, and three minor tears on the right margin edge 3/8" and less stabilized by archival filmoplast repairs. This ca. 1870's full sheet measures 15" x 19 3/4." and the image is 11 1/8" x 17 1/2."
Toned overall with a stain extending from the upper corner to the top left edge of the bust; there is another diagonal crease in the same corner which does not affect the image. Sheet measures 21 5/8" x 17 1/4;" matting is 28" x 22."
