This specially raised woven silk crepe pattern shows woven medallions that enclose facing phoenixes, flowers, arabesques and weights; tied together with scrolling ribbons with tassels. Lovely black on black intricate texture is apparent in the photos of this vintage Japanese silk kimono vest. This vest is medium weight and does not have a lining, but has a five-inch hem on the bottom. In the center of the back is one white family crest (mon). Having one-five family crests on a Japanese garment meant that it was not worn every day, but only on special formal or semi-formal occasions.

Condition: excellent outside and inside. Size: 23” across the top; 31” top to bottom. U.S. women’s size: x-small, small, or medium. This unique silk kimono vest is not designed to overlap or close in the center, if worn. If desired, you could add your own closure. Such superior textile artwork would also add a lovely touch to home décor.
