Antique Japanese Silk Kimono Haori Vest With Crest

Soft and shiny vintage Japanese silk rinzu shows very detailed traditional patterns of woven rectangles, arabesques, pine, waves, leaves flowers and old thread spools. There is a lovely satin sheen to this vintage lightweight silk vest. Several of the spools and rhombus-shaped areas have tiny stitches outlining the design with silver, beige, brown or dark orange threads. Gorgeous! Inside, the lining is dyed in a design of colorful pieces of old broken Japanese pottery. In the center of the outside is one white family crest (mon). Having one-five family crests on a Japanese garment meant that it was not worn every day, but only on special formal or semi-formal occasions.

Condition: excellent overall; one small age spot on the inside lining (1/2” x 1”). Size: 25” across the top; 38” top to bottom. U.S. women’s size: x-small, small, or medium. This lovely dark coral silk kimono vest is not designed to overlap or close in the center, if worn. If desired, you could add your own closure. Such superior textile artwork would also add a lovely touch to home décor.
