This tansu will definately become a statement piece. Richly lucquered in burgundy red and the hardware enhances the elegant impression of the tansu. It is made from cedar and paulownia (kiri). Circe Late 1800s to Early 1900s Dimentions: 33 3/4"wide 10 1/4"deep 44 3/4"

A very handsome Osaka style merchant chest (choba-tansu). The tansu is made from hinoki (cypress) and sugi (cedar) and has a rich and warm appearance. The hardware are all original however the bottom latch for the sliding door is unfortunately missing (please take look at the image). Ca. Meiji Era (1868-1911) Dimensions: 36 3/4"w 15"d 37"h

This Imari small plate depicts two children playing with a kite (tako-age), which indicates that the plate was more likely used to celebrate a New Year. The rest of the plate is filled with more "classic" Imari motifs with enphasis of red (shu-iro) and green. The center of the plate show a circle of pine, bamboo, and plum (sho-chiku-bai) in beutiful indigo blue. Ca. 1800s Dimensions: 8.5" diameter

The large peopnies are placed in the center and they are surrounded by two themes of "sub" floral motifs, including small butterflies and birds (uguisu). The colors are vivid and deep. This Japanse cha-dansu (tea chest) has a very subtle elegance. The tansu is made from mulberry (kuwa) and it has a rich dark apperance. The tansu has a pair of glass doors in the middle, which covers a charming "broken-shelves" and an enclosed cabinet. The top of the tansu is another spacious storage which is covered by a pair of sliding doors. Ca. Early to Mid 1900s. Dimensions: 33 7/8"w 13 1/2"d 40"d

Mt Fuji has always been a Japanese favorite motif. It is also an auspicious symbol and this large charger has three identical scene with Mt. Fuji, along with sun-rise, a falcon, and a pine tree. The rest of the charger is intricately filled with abstract and other auspicious floral motifs. The center shows a circle of peony. Three small origami cranes are cheerfully placed too. This Imari bowl has a very auspicious appearance. A scroll (makimono) is centered in the design along with a dog, which seems to be a spiritual messenger. A large tree (probably cherry blossom) is in the background and it creates such a very cheerful atmosphere. A few cranes are also flying over the tree. The rest of the interior is filled with very detail and abstract motifs. Ca. 1800s Dimensions: 10" diameter 3 5/8" tall

This small kutani plate depicts a scene of three men drinking sake and a "treasure" box (a black lacquered box) across from them. They seem to be celebrating some type of an occasion. There is also a fan-shape village scene on the plate along with some floral designs and motifs. The place is trimed with intricate designs with some bronze/metalic color. This imari bowl is probably from the 19th century. The bowl is hand-painted and it depicts six "scholars" dancing under the trees. The center of the bowl is painted in blue and white. The exterior and the bottom of the bowl also has intricate designs as you see on the photos. The dimensions: Approximately 8.5 diameter 3 1/4" high
