Featuring an unusual and well carved tiny netsuke of Kinko riding a carp, the subject taken from a legend in Japan. In the book, Legends of Japanese Art, there is an interesting paragraph written about this subject. This netsuke is very well carved, the feet and hand details being quite precise, plus every detail is excellent. The surface of the carp is textured and his eyes are inlaid with baylene. Signed on the underside. I have not tried to identify the signature. Kinko is leaning on a sake ...click for details

Wonderful porcelain figurine of peacefully sleeping white cat, possibly Nymphenburg, European or Japanese. Finely modeled with unusual colorful bow. Very life like and great shape with its rear haunch curled under chin with tail. I love this little guy. He measures 6" long, 3 1/2" wide and 2" high. He is in purrfect condition except one tiny spot on the rear tip of his right ear which feels just a tiny bit rough and I think is a burst bubble from a firing flaw and in the making. No ...click for details

Featuring a lovely Satsuma plate with an exquisite subtle scene of a pair of male and female ducks swimming amongst grasses and pale pink flowers with gold centers. The artist that painted this scene used great skill in all details, shading and blending of colors, and with the suggestion of haze to the left side as it fades into shadow foliage in the distance. Also unique is the painting of the duck's feet under the water, a rare motif in Satsuma, occasionally found in cloisonne. There are r ...click for details
