Featuring a charming miniature Japanese Satsuma 4 sided, footed incense jar. Four finely painted scenes: women and children in Japanese domestic scene, landscape with pagodas and waterfall, white dove and smaller blue bird amongst wisteria and, lastly, a yellow bird with purple iris and butterflies. Edge of rims on both ends are different than the other, and most unusual shape. 3 areas with design that repeat, each with a central cartouch surrounded by scrolls and flowers. Probably hollow. Featuring a charming early 19th century Japanese ivory netsuke depicting 3 clams clustered together with a crab peeking out from one. Very compact and feels nice when clasped in palm of hand. Excellent condition. Unsigned. No chips, damages or restorations. There are some lines that are found in older ivory and one inlaid eye in crab is missing the inlay.
