Very fine Japanese cloisonne enamel cabinet vase, just under 5" tall. Beautiful sculptured silver wires outline the colorful lavender poppies with very fine detailed wires and the beautiful leaves in various shades of green. A red flower adds a nice contrast. A lovely bouquet on the reverse with buds, flower and grasses is a bonus. The intricate boarder and overall excellent workmanship are indicative of the Hayashi workshop. Featuring a fine Japanese pipe with silver mounts on either end and bamboo in the middle. The mouth piece appears to be copper or mixed metal and below that there is great work with a dragon in clouds and inlaid mixed metal eyes. The bamboo piece has painted designs in black to look like clouds. Not sure of the technique in painting this, maybe ink. The pipe piece also has a design tooled into it, probably relating to the dragon motif. There is a hallmark on both metal pieces(see photo of one). ...click for details

Pair of Chinese hand carved wooden guardian figurines. Excellent condition. No repairs or damages that I know of. I assume the guilding is meant to look like this, but I am not an expert on this type of work. Very well done carving/workmanship with powerful expressions. Date to the 19th century to the best of my knowledge. Aproximately 51/2"-6" tall. These came out of a local estate of a knowledgeable collector who only had the best. Featuring a fine 18th century Japanese shishi netsuke with peony. Carved out of so called Umamitsu, which I was told is sea pine or black coral. Perhaps it is amber, as when held up to light, there is a sort of translucent amber color that comes through. Very fine work. Measures just under 1.5" long x 1" deep x 1" high.
