A fine Japanese Meiji box probably made by sword makers in the late 19th century. The intricate work of copper,silver gold and other mixed metals is inlaid or worked into iron. The top with a farmer. detailed with a hoe over his shoulder, a pipe in his hand, and a stripped jacket standing by a tree worked in with gold and with a boarder of intricate morning glories, lilies, leaves.
