Fred Ladwig of Rochester New York, had an interesting career as an artist, working in different media: photography, collage, and paint. Born 1913, died 1995 at the age of 82, he was a good friend of the founder of the Memorial Art Gallery, James Sibley Watson. Fred was known for his talent, intellect, and unique ideas. A handsome, aristocratic gentleman, probably American, very finely executed, watercolor painting on ivory, dating to the early 20th century. This man has an exceptionally gentle, kind look in his face, eyes and expression. The well coiffed beard and mustache details are so well painted, as is the entire piece.
