| Featuring an exquisitely detailed/painted Satsuma double gourd vase with two finely decorated panels on a cobalt blue background signed Kinkozan. One rare panel depicts implements used in the tea ceremony on a 3 tiered table (shodana) and on the floor. Also, a basket of grapes, pomegranate and vines are part of this rare antique subject matter. The shodana is painted to look like gold lacquer, as are many of the antique tea ceremony implements. All are in raised lacquer-like gold. Other implements are painted in raised enamels. The panel on the opposite side depicts an artistically painted rooster and hen in garden with peonies, a gold straw fence, morning glories and another flower, all in raised gold or enamels. The two panels are divided by various colorful mums in raised gold or various shades of raised enamel. On the top portion of the gourd on the cobalt blue background are raised kiku mon. The lower portion is painted with exquisite raised gold bamboo. A Greek key border decorates the top of the neck, the middle between the two parts of the gourd and around the foot. Beautiful, graceful, unusual shape. This vase is in excellent condition. No cracks, chips, damages or restorations. No wear to enamels or raised gold. 5 1/2" high x 4" wide. The signature is the impressed mark of Kinkozan. The artist that painted this piece was a true master. The work is crisp, and brilliantly executed, worthy of the best artists working for Kinkozan. Dates circa 1890, when the best work was being done. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition, within 3 days of receipt and the way it was packed if possible.
