| This rare antique small okimono ivory carving of very fine workmanship, features an umbrella maker/artisan at work. He is about to trim the edge of the umbrella with a special tool, but before so doing, is thinking about something else for an instant as he stares into space. With realistically carved facial features, the pleasing face measures a mere 1/2", and yet, has so much expression and strength of character that it is most remarkable. The hands are amazingly well carved. On a small artist's chest, by his side, are several paint brushes in a brush holder and bowl. He sits on a type of mat as seen from the underside where is also found a signature. Measures 2.25" long x 1 1/4" deep x 2" high to top of umbrella. No restorations or damages! Dates to the late 19th century. Satisfaction guaranteed. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of receipt and the way it was shipped/packed if possible. Sales tax charged if sold in New York state providing valid sales tax number and signed form provided. | ||
