Fine Japanese Meiji Kinkozan Satsuma Plate Chusengara
Featuring a fine Meiji era Satsuma 7.5" plate with image of a samurai in a landscape with buildings in the distance and a crowd of figures. The rim is minutely decorated with polychrome flowers and five reserves with various flowers. Signed in gilt and impressed marks for Kinkozan. The scene depicts Act 2 from Chusengara. Chusengara is the story of the samurai that kill themselves to defend the honor of their lord, a very famous story in Japanese history, an uncommon motif on Satsuma. This plate does not have a crackled glaze which is fairly rare, and found on some of the finer, more artistic pieces by the better artists, especially with this type of border. No chips, cracks, damages or restorations. There is a small amount of loss to the gilt decoration. Satisfaction guaranteed or money back providing item returned in sent condition, within 3 days of receipt and the way it was packed if possible. Postage/insurance extra. Sales tax charged if sold in New York state, unless valid sales tax number and form provided.
