Antique Italian Porcelain Capodemonti Ginori Cup & Saucer
This is a wonderful porcelain Capo Di Monte or Ginori demitasse cup and saucer dating to the 3rd quarter of the 19th century. The hand painted raised molded scene depicts the sun god in a 2 horse drawn chariot, a third horse, a tower, and some other mythological deities/figures(one with a snake). The art work is outstanding. The interior of the cup is painted with a gold boarder and gold sprigs of leaves and flowers. The saucer, measuring 4 3/4" in diameter, is painted with flowers, shells, and other designs. The twisted twig gold and white porcelain handle with leaves is just amazing. The cup measures 2 1/" high and almost 3" in diameter. The set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restorations or damages whatsoever, really amazing since it is very delicate and so old. There is some no harm crazing on the saucer. The Capo di Monte signature is found on both pieces, a gold crown with an N under it. There is also a number, 334 impressed into the saucer. The gold rim on the saucer, matches the gold rim on the interior of the cup. If you would like more photos, please feel free to ask.
