| A fine French desk set with ivory handled wax seal, pen and letter opener/bookmark in fitted box with red velvet lining. The ivory handles of all 3 pieces are hand tooled with designs of shell, flowers and scroll boarders. It looks like the gold areas may be gold leaf and the green may be paint. Good cross hatching grains in the elephant ivory. The silver mounts on the pen and seal have a French touch hallmark. The letter opener also serves as a bookmark. The pen nib is marked 725, Gold Plate, Dennis Pen Co. Buffalo New York. It is hard to fit this into the pen and may not be the right size. I do not want to force it. I believe this set dates to the 3rd quarter of the 19th century but could be a bit latter. The box is in fine condition, the clasp works, and it is lined with red velvet to fit each implement. All in excellent condition. The box measures 6" x 5 1/2". The wax seal measures 2", the pen without nib, 5 3/4", and the letter opener/bookmark,4 3/4". This is a rare,unique set. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within a few days of having received it. Postage insurance extra.
