I used to collect the Shafer and Vater bisques -- this isn't them, but in the same vein -- the sculpting is excellent -- the creatures face is exquisite -- the humor ------- well that's up to the individual --- but the creature is sitting on the potty holding on to the rocket -- one wonders what will propel them !! There are 4 intaglios in this group -- each priced separately - the yellow glass ADAM and EVE is 1 X 3/4 inch -- it says EAT & BE DAMN*D -- the cupid is about 3/4 X 7/8 inch -- signed BROWN -- Lida and the Swan is 3/4 X 7/8 -- and the Crowd Scene is 5/8 X 3/4 inch -- the cupid has some edge chips - the others are all fine -- 19 century
Lovely typically Polish petticoat candlesticks - these are slightly larger than the others we've had -- they are 13 3/4 inches tall on a 5 1/4 inch base -- also a little heavier gauge than usual -- excellent condition -- nice even brown patina allover -- untouched - right out of a house -- you can polish, plate or leave them with the patina -- any choice will look great -- marked with the NORBLIN & CO WARSAW marks -- two headed eagle and some style numbers -- please check the photos and ...click for details
The background looks like shibuichi to me but the term Shakudo seems to be the most used for this type of work -- Elongated oval is a large approximately 3 3/8 X 1 1/2 inches -- set in a custom made 14K gold wire setting --Condition is superb with virtually no wear and definately no damage - The work is among of the best available -- Hen & Rooster, numerous flowers, leaves with gold dew drops, two spiders in webs and a tiny centipede peeking out from behind the hen -- done in copper, shibui ...click for details
