This is an Exceptional Carving Executed in Elephant Ivory. From a Large Maryland Collection of ANTIQUES and ART this Piece is circa first quarter of the 20th Century. The Carving measures just under 5" tall X 2 3/4" across X 1 1/4" in width. Carved in PROFILE this is a HEAVY Piece of IVORY with Visible Grains. Excellent STONE CARVING depicting a MOTHER with CHILD carried on her Back. From a WASHINGTON, D.C. Estate and the previous owner told me this piece was PERUVIAN in origin.
