Through her frequent travels, she is always on the hunt for Victorian gold jewelry, Edwardian platinum and 18kt gold rings and earrings, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts and Art Deco necklaces, pins and bracelets. Her most recent addiction is the fabulous gold, diamond, ruby and sapphire jewelry of the 1940s.
She has also recently begun buying some new jewelry as well as signed pieces from Tiffany, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Henry Dunay to name but a few. The better the quality and design, the more appealing to her senses and to those of her loyal clientele.
This website is only a sampling of her inventory. If you are searching for something you do not see, please call or email and with luck, we will have it in our stock or be able to locate it for you.
Ellen Ring has been involved in the jewelry business for over 20 years honing her knowledge of fine jewelry at Tiffany & Company in New York and then developing her passion and furthering her expertise at McTeigue & McClelland in Great Barrington, MA.
She grew up in a family of collectors. Her grand-motherís favorite pastime was attending auctions collecting exquisite antiques and jewelry. Her parents were avid art collectors so it was just a matter of time before the bug hit her as well. In 2004 Ellen decided to start her own business as a private dealer of fine antique and estate jewelry.
She began by showcasing in a multi-dealer antique gallery and exhibiting at antique shows on the east coast. Her customers raved about her discerning taste, her knowledge and her passion, all evident when she talks to them and educates them about the history and design of jewelry. Ellen recognizes that the attraction to and appreciation for jewelry goes far beyond ornamentation, aesthetic appeal and monetary value. It is through the study of the history, the fashions and economics of an era that one can better understand why and how certain styles were worn. Ellenís enthusiasm is contagious as she shares her knowledge and gets as excited about finding her special pieces as she does about educating her customers.
She creates a carefully curated selection of wearable and well-designed jewelry for her discriminating customers and is passionate about beautiful jewelry. Through her frequent travels she is always on the hunt for unique jewelry with a special interest in classic but unusual pieces. The better the quality and design, the more appealing to her senses and to those of her loyal clientele. She has built her devoted customer base through recognizing their desire for excellence, value and exceptional personal customer service.
Ellen has lectured on the history of jewelry, specializing in the Victorian Era and is a frequent attendee at the Antique and Period Jewelry and Gemstone Conference. She is also a member of The American Society of Jewelry Historians and on the board of the Berkshire County Antiques and Art Dealers Association.
Having lived in New York City for over 15 years, Ellen moved to The Berkshires where she now lives with her rescued terrier mix, Callie, who has made so many friends that she'll never let Ellen live anywhere else!
