SOLD

A fabulous piece of wearable art from one of the icons of the modernist jewelry movement; some of his pieces are in the collection of the Museum of Arts & Design in New York. Ed Wiener worked largely in silver until the 1950s when he branched out into gold and precious jewels. Among his clients were Louise Nevelson, the sculptor and Martha Graham, the dancer. A life long New Yorker, he had his final studio and store on Fifth Avenue which is where this was purchased in the early 1970s. This 18kt pendant/brooch takes the form of a textured open disk with mixed cut sapphires, emeralds and colorful semi-precious gems. Accompanied by a textured 23" chain which is wearable on its own, as well. 54.7 dwt with chain (85.0 grams). Circa 1973 2 1/4" by 2 3/4" x 1/16"

SOLD

The brilliance of this diamond will make your heart sing! The central old european cut diamond of 0.65 ct, H color, VVS clarity, is set into a 4 prong 14kt white gold mounting and is accented by two smaller diamonds, one on each set, also set into white gold, 4 prong mounts. This creates a visual effect of a larger stone overall and is just the most stunning of rings. The white gold ring mounting is set upon a yellow gold band which contrasts seamlessly and produces a piece of jewelry which can be worn with any other jewelry you own. Truly, one of MY all time favorites. Circa 1930-1940 and is most likely American in origin.

Sorry, this item has sold!

Beads are in this year and this is a most unusual strand! These wonderful old beads are known today as King beads, dating from the mid 1800's to early 1900's. The name refers to the legend that says these beads were worn by African Chiefs (Kings) as adornment and also to show respect for the King's position. During the height of trade and import of African goods in the mid 19th century, these beads became a means of barter and became quite popular. These beads are 18 pieces of amber separated by 19 king beads. Pitting and a few worn areas are a normal part of their patina, attesting to the age and use. Strung on string with a silver clasp. Condition: Very good Length: 20" Weight: 191.2 grams (122.9 dwt) Circa: 1930-1950
