| The archaeological discoveries of the Roman and Etruscan sites in the mid 18th century, inspired a revival of the type of jewelry discovered, characterized by granulation, twisted gold wire and filigree techniques. This lovely necklace shows this influence in the wire-work gold beads used decoratively between the plain gold beads and the faceted amethysts. Beads are hollow and a few have minor dents hardly noticeable to the naked eye. Otherwise, condition is very good. Newer 14kt clasp. Just over 13" long; it is the perfect accent piece to wear with jeans and a tee or over a sweater. Circa 1890. | ||||||
