| A wonderful old European cut diamond starburst brooch which is convertible to a pendant by a loop which folds down when not in use. Additionally, the pin back is detachable which allows the piece to lay flat when worn as a pendant. It is silver over gold, typical of the time period before the use of platinum to set diamonds, and is backed in gold for strength. The central diamond weighs approximately .75 carat and is surrounded by 16 smaller diamonds, totalling approximately 1.7 carats. 32 smaller diamonds are then scattered between the central element and the outer edge. The approximate total diamond weight is 3.00 carats. The stones have great life to them with a slight yellow color. It is in very good condition with only 2 of the smallest diamonds showing a chip not visible to the naked eye. The pin weighs 10.3 grams and measures 1 1/8" in diameter. Circa 1895 | ||||||
