| Rare and exceptional cabochon garnet pendant surrounded by 12 old mine cut diamonds of various weights ranging from approximately 0.23 carat to 0.25 carat. An additional diamond on the bale weighs approximately 0.33 carat. There are 12 very small diamonds around the perimeter of the larger diamonds weighing approximately 0.25 carat for a total diamond weight of 3.58 carats. The diamonds are all set in silver over gold, typical of the time before the use of platinum when setting white stones. The garnet is set in 18kt gold. In the reverse, is a beautiful plait of hair as this was apparently a special token given to a loved one. The condition is very good with only a few slight inclusions in the garnet only visible under magnification. Probably English Circa 1860 | |||||
