A rare creped woodblock print by Ito Sozan (1884-) Subject: Blue bird with red leaves. Date: Early 20th century. Size: Approximately 7.25 by 5.0 inches. Publisher: Likely Watanabe Shozaburo. Sozan worked for Watanabe from 1919 until 1926. Condition: Unframed. Very fresh color and very good condition. There is natural shrinkage due to the creping process, which was favored in the early 20th century due to the superior durability of the prints. The photo was taken with a digital camera, as the creping causes random colors to appear in the scan. |
