| This fine porcelain figurine of a male mermaid modeled underneath a shell would make an excellent centerpiece. The piece depicts a man with a tail fin as one would see on a mermaid set among cat tails and other reeds as one would find around the water. These items are cast underneath a large scalloped shell. The work is extraordinary with heavy use of gilding and very fine detail. The piece is signed by Hadley for James Hadley, the primary modeler for Royal Worcester in the late 19th century. The piece dates to approximately 1875. There is also an impressed Royal Worcester mark on the bottom. The piece is 8 ¼ inches tall and 12 inches across. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. | ||
