| Large paintings for large spaces; beautiful in the home, although these would be perfect for commercial areas -- a restaurant, library, airport, solarium, bank. Japanese woodblocks were the inspiration for these supersize Monarchs, which have been created in watercolors and ink. Each piece is dated and signed by the artist, "S. Masterson, Oklahoma City, 2002," and the title and species name, "Monarch at Rest" (for the side butterflies), "Danaus plexippus," and for the open butterly, "Monarch Basking." Although a bit surreal, each is close to being anatomically correct. Unframed, leaving creativity open to the buyer. "Resting" Monarchs are 22" x 30.5" (55.88 x 77.47 cm) on paper; "Basking" Monarch is 40" x 30.5" (101.60 x 77.47 cm) on mat board. Sold as a set.
