| Circa 1890, the heel to toe measurement on this single lotus shoe is under 3". The embroidery on the front section of the vamp is a combination of chain and couching stitches using the finest metalic thread that I have ever seen. The couching thread towards the heel is the usual standard thickness and was clearly also original to the shoe. There is a little evidence of wear, the vamp is a bit dirty, and the original leather stripe on the sole heel is missing. But this is such a rare shoe that its condition detracts very little from its value. | |||||||
