Burgess & Leigh, Hill Pottery, Large Transferware Platter, 18” x 13”
The RUSTIC pattern was first introduced by Burgess & Leigh at the Hill Pottery in 1886. The RUSTIC pattern reflects the English countryside with several planes of perspective which draw the viewer’s eye. The brown transfer design is executed on a cream colored body.

Victorian Painting of Christmas Roses on Terra Cotta Plaque, Watcombe, c. 1880s. Beveled Period Frame.
The painting of the white Christmas roses is on a gray background, and set in a custom made round frame with a high beveled curve. The painting has no signature but the quality of the brush work is clearly professional.
